Experience
Eating Disorder Treatment
Over the past several years, I have worked in outpatient, partial hospitalization programs, and residential programs for eating disorders- including separate programs for Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and Anorexia and Other specified Eating Disorders (OSFED). I am currently working towards my Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) Certification.
Chronic
Pain
In 2018 and 2019, I copiloted an art therapy program at Diamond Headache Unit in Chicago, IL. I conductetd quantitative research about the long term effectiveness of biofeedback techniques when pairing art therapy sessions with biofeedback during inpatient treatment. Findings show art therapy can be an effective treatment modality for supporting the remembering and practicing of biofeedback skills after discharge (ie: progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, guided imagery). From this experience, I have gained knowledge in supporting individuals with chronic pain using art therapy and mindfulness-based strategies.
College Counseling
In 2017 & 2018 I worked at North Park University providing counseling
and art therapy services to undergraduate and graduate students. I continue to work with college students in private practice, supporting them in identity-development, such as career identity and sexual identity.
End of Life & Bereavemnt
In 2015 and 2016, I worked as a full time art therapy intern at Care Dimensions Hospice in Massachusetts. During this time I provided end of life support for pediatric and adult hospice patients. I facilitated a children and an adults bereavemnt art therapy group for individuals grieving the loss of a parent or spouse. During this time I developed an affinity for assisting care givers (hospice workers, family members, etc) in caring for their own physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being while caring for persons at the end of life or with illness.
